At the City Council meeting starting at 5:00 pm, on behalf of all the appointees to the Food Policy Task Force, Councilwoman Andrea Oakes and I will introduce our recommendations to City Council. Here are the recommendations we will present:

  1. Convene a Food Policy Council
  2. Adopt a Food Charter
  3. Allow Business Gardens
  4. Encourage Edible Landscaping
  5. Allow City Markets to Expand
  6. Encourage Rain Barrels
  7. Incentivize Community Gardens

You can read the full text of our recommendations here.

This event is open to the public. Come out this Thursday the 24th from 5:00 pm to 5:30 pm and show your support for local food in Staunton!

And afterwards, why not attend the Food Day celebration to be held at the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind, sponsored by the Staunton Creative Community Fund and others, which goes till 8:00 pm?
